Project overview

Project aimed to migrate all existing projects and their associated data, resources, and dependencies from AWS Landing Zone (LZ) to AWS Control Tower (CT) for one of the largest healthcare provider company in Singapore. This transition was initiated to leverage AWS Control Tower’s enhanced governance, automation, and simplified multi-account management capabilities. A key objective was to minimize downtime during the migration and to ensure uninterrupted business operations.

  1. Discovery phase: Conducted a comprehensive assessment of existing AWS Landing Zone configurations, dependencies, and customizations. 
  2. Planning and design: Developed a migration plan including a detailed timeline, resource allocation, and rollback strategies. Designed the AWS Control Tower environment to accommodate existing projects and dependencies. 
  3. Incremental migration: Adopted a phased migration approach to minimize downtime, prioritizing non-critical projects initially and using lessons learned for critical project migrations. 
  4. Automation tools: Leveraged AWS DataSync, AWS DMS, AWS CloudFormation, and custom scripts to automate account setup, data migration, and dependency transfer. 
  5. Testing and validation: Conducted rigorous testing at each phase to ensure successful migration and full functionality in the new environment. 
  6. Stakeholder communication: Maintained clear communication with all stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination and issue resolution.
